The River is Wide

Monday...

Kath Lawrence's death is bothering me a lot. She took such care with her plans that a cry of "senseless!" does the act nor the woman justice. It was a very sensible, deliberate and meticulous act. There can be no doubt that this was the outcome desired.

The question, of course, being Why? I knew Kath for a strong woman, and suicide to me is an act of surrender. Perhaps I misunderstand the act -- or the woman. Certainly both are possible...

Of Ordinary Things --

Did the gym thing, did the Epic Swapping Out of Funds so that the taxes could be paid. Went home, caught up on emails and ljs, actually wrote the checks to pay the taxes, and got them decently enveloped. Motored out to the post office and mailed them, the backlog of SRM orders, *and* the latest batch of Meisha Merlin signed _Balance of Trades_. With that batch gone, we have 69 hardcovers left here. At last report, there were Not Very Many left in the Meisha Merlin warehouse, so we'll be looking at a sell-out, I'd expect, along about May. Cool.

What else? More packing and email when I got home-- avoiding the bills -- and then on to the tweaking of the Miri story, which now has a *title*. "Fighting Chance." Unless a better one occurs between Now and Then.

Got a little more clean-up to do and then it's a wrap. Just in time to receive _Crystal Soldier_ back from Steve for the Last, the Final go-through.

It was sunny and warm today. Next Monday, we have a date to do a day-trip to the ocean. I'm looking forward to that.
