Busy Signal
Tuesday, May 18th, 2004 11:16 amFrantic weekend. More development work on the new project; wrote the synopsis and cast of characters for another project. Still need to do the sample chapters on that one, but I'm feeling very good about the concept and the characters.
Sadly, there hasn't been time to do more than peek at The Nameless -- pay copy and realistically potential pay copy comes first and I don't care how much Certain Characters carry on about it, so there! -- which sits at 7,350 words and is perhaps half done. I need to tweak the last written scene just a bit -- maybe I'll swipe 15 minutes and do that today. I'd originally thought to finish the story while we were on the road, but it's looking like I'll be writing sample chapters instead.
Yesterday, Steve had an appointment with the eye doctor, who gave him a thumbs-up on the eye (insert BIG sigh of relief); then we did a phone interview with Mr. Page of the Ogden UT Standard-Examiner, then more concept work on the First Project before staggering off to bed.
Today, Steve has a doctor's appointment and I have some house chores to do that should have been done over the weekend, but somehow got lost in the shuffle. The rest of the week is looking to be Largely Consumed by travel-related errands, including the 80-mile round-trip excursion to pick up the printing.
So far at least, I'm finding it easier than I expected to keep more than one project in mind at the same time. I think that three at once is a personal record, for fiction. I've often held a non-fiction and a fiction project in simultaneous active memory. I've resisted it with fiction because of a fear that I would muddle the characters together and make a hash out of two projects at once. It may be that these projects are different enough from each other that there's no muddle zone. I hope.
