The temperature, yesterday, she climbed, and she climbed and then she climbed some more. At 5 o'clock, with the wind coming up, the temperature stood at 54.3 degrees (F) (12.2C). This proved fortunate, because at 6:20 the power went out, and stayed that way until sometime around 10. We got to use the lantern [livejournal.com profile] trolleypup so kindly sent us -- works a treat! -- as we sat 'round the kitchen table, talking and listening to WKIT on the radio. It being Thursday Threefors, we called in a trio of Warren Zevon songs and so a nice raucous storm party was had.

The temperature now is 29F (-1.6C), the snow is gone, the ground is soggy and the trash can is thehellengone down the back of the property. I wonder if I can walk on water...

Anna Vargo, long-time SF fan, Liaden Universe reader, and friend, is now being treated to the wonders of radiation therapy, the chemo having not done the trick. Anna has stage 4 undifferentiated mixed mullerian cancer. This is, I fear, not a very good to have, and those who have her in their care are justly worried about her chances of long-term survival. Information here

Good thoughts and prayers are solicited. Also cards -- humorous moreso than sentimental -- and letters, to:

There is also a guest book off of the above-referenced page.

Thanks to everyone who can take a moment to share the light.
