So, last night.  It snowed, it sleeted, it rained, it froze, the temperatures rose.

This morning -- fog, slush, clouds and threats of Weather.  The weathercritters say the threats will be only that until this evening, when -- ta-da! -- snowing, sleet and freezing rain are on the menu.

I am pleased to report that Max! comported himself with honor and bravery in the matter of the vet.  He did not simply lie there and let That Guy stick him with a needle, no sir!  If it was blood That Guy wanted, well!  Max! was happy to oblige him.  This show of spirit didn't change the final outcome, but byghod That Guy knows Max! was there this morning.

In other news, I'll be doing the run to the post office in a couple minutes, then back home to change into clothes that have no zippers (and, in a Fashion Coup, it happens that I have a pair of leggings) and report to Nuclear Medicine for the bone scan.  Hopefully, my appointment will go as smoothly (baring bloodshed) as Max!'s did, since the other part of the assignment was not to ingest any calcium before the test.  This requirement has thrown into sharp relief just how much calcium I eat as a matter of course.  I did cobble up a toast, apple jelly, and bacon sandwich for breakfast, with green tea.  Lunch is going to be something more of a challenge.  May just hold out and treat myself to a milkshake afterwards.

I note that the softcover of Balance of Trade is not yet available for purchase anywhere, which is ...interesting; and that the first printing of With Stars Underfoot is as of this morning Sold Out.

...the tech said, clearly surprised.  "What's it about?"  As it happens, the book's about the children who were captured by Commanches in Texas in the 1860s, their acculturation to Indian life and what befell those who returned.  I gave her the short form of that as we walked down the hall to the scanning room and got me situated on the table.  She asked more questions about the book in and around the business of the day, exclaiming more than once over the fact that I was reading! a! book!

Doesn't get out much, I guess...

Bad run at the computer, with the ImposterMonster wailing the You Ain't a Writer blues.  Note to self:  Next time hire a Monster that can sing.

Snow, sleet, freezing rain and General Guck overnight.  Sigh.  Real snow would be nice.
