...the tech said, clearly surprised.  "What's it about?"  As it happens, the book's about the children who were captured by Commanches in Texas in the 1860s, their acculturation to Indian life and what befell those who returned.  I gave her the short form of that as we walked down the hall to the scanning room and got me situated on the table.  She asked more questions about the book in and around the business of the day, exclaiming more than once over the fact that I was reading! a! book!

Doesn't get out much, I guess...

Bad run at the computer, with the ImposterMonster wailing the You Ain't a Writer blues.  Note to self:  Next time hire a Monster that can sing.

Snow, sleet, freezing rain and General Guck overnight.  Sigh.  Real snow would be nice.

We've got a mess of it coming. I'll tell it to hold off until it reaches you folks.

You have one, too?

Mine can't sing either. Plays a mean harp, though.

Glad to hear that someone else gets that one. My current siege of rewriting is bringing him out in full cry. I _hate_ revisions, not because I'm convinced I got it right the first time, but because I'm _positive_ every word I write is making a bad situation worse.

ImposterMonster! What a great name for it.

For what it's worth, (and from a complete stranger, but devout fan), it's never as bad as you think it is. And I still bet it's better than 90% of what's out there. You are incredibly talented and I can hardly wait for Crystal Soldier to actually hit the shelves!

Don't beat up on yourself. Everyone has a less than stellar day from time to time.

My two cents. :)

Reminds me of the guy who came to work on my computer, saw the cover flats I have stuck up on my bulletin board, and said, "Oh! I'll bet you've got those up there because that's your name too!"

Long sigh. "Yes, that's right."

What else could I say?

Bad run at the computer, with the ImposterMonster wailing the You Ain't a Writer blues.

Sympathies. Empathies. Monster singing lessons.
