Dress for Success
Monday, June 12th, 2006 09:33 pmI actually do own two dresses (three, if you count the top-and-skirt set I bought for an Extremely! Important! dinner with various editorial and distribution honchos, and which is far too fancy to wear anyplace I usually go, with the exception of the local bookstore's Harry Potter party, where it was a big hit with the Minerva McGonigle crowd.) Of the two, one is a luscious dusty red velvet with a scoop neck and princess lines, which I should've gotten rid of years ago, and the other is a sundress that
kinzel bought for me at the ocean a couple years ago -- dark grey, with black embroidery, scoop neck and horn buttons.
As those who have been playing along at home will recall, tomorrow, I have a job interview, and the all-purpose dress slacks just Aren't Going To Do. Jeans and a t-shirt? Right out.
After spending 'way too long this evening staring into my closet, willing a business suit to appear, I happened to pull out my long-sleeved black silk sweater, and had a lightbulb moment. One black silk sweater under one grey-and-black sundress equals -- jumper set. And I even have a pair of nylons, which was an enormous shock.
On the writing front, I'm down to the wire on Carousel Tides, so I'll be writing Copious Notes regarding the shape and events of the last smidge, planning on starting into the Gunshy revisions Saturday.
