The fossilised skull of the largest rodent ever recorded has been described by scientists for the first time.

The remains of the one-tonne beast, found in Uruguay, indicate that it would have been as big as a bull.

It is thought that the three-metre-long herbivore would have roamed estuaries and forests 2-4 million years ago.

Read all about it.

Well... I've had noticeably more energy and ability to concentrate in the last week, which I suppose means that the adjusted dosage for the thyroid meds is working, and not a moment too soon, as I'm scheduled to drop by the lab tomorrow afternoon after work and leave a little blood behind.

One thing I've noticed which seems...atypical... is that I'm waking up tired -- tireder than when I couldn't wake up at all, if you take my meaning. The contributor to that seems to be the fact that my brain isn't turning off when I go to sleep and so I have the sense that I've been listening to it yammer at me all night, like someone having a Very Intense telephone conversation in the next room. Hard to get a good night's rest that way.

A royalty check arrived yesterday, which was much appreciated. A credit card bill has been killed in celebration.

The mini-proposal sent off the other day was met with tempered interest, and an invitation to nail down a couple of corners. We got out a hammer and nailed, and now we wait.

In the meantime, we write, why not.
