rolanni: (isn't she?)
OK, this is disturbing. Not the part about people renouncing the faith they were born into -- that, I understand. No, my problem is right here: According to Argentine campaigner Ariel Bellino, a former Catholic: "The church counts all those who've been baptized as Catholic and lobbies for legislation based on that number....

I realize that I don't live in Argentina or the UK, but, yanno, I betcha the church is still counting me among the US faithful -- and I don't want to be on that list. Not only do I so not agree with almost everything the roman catholic church has to say about almost any topic relating to Life As I Know It To Be, I am by its own rules no longer a catholic. I have been excommunicated, like, a thousand times over:

Missed my Easter Duty? for years and years and YEARS

Married a divorced man, thereby living in "sin" for the past thirty years? oh, yeah

Used tarot cards and other tools of the Art Magical? ayuh

Embraced a Bohemian and artistic lifestyle? ...on second thought, that may not be on the Official List.

I had always believed that I had been struck from the church's census, since I don't show up in any parish documents, and I resent four thousand ways from tomorrow the fact that I'm (probably) still being counted as a roman catholic solely and only for the ADVERTISING VALUE, because my parents decided to have me baptized. I mean, it's fine that Mom and Dad were trying to look out for my eternal soul and all -- I'm not angry at them; they did what they thought was right. I just think that my adult decision to repudiate that baptism ought to count, here.

So, anyway -- does anyone know where I Officially Resign my baptism?

Here's a three-way stimulus package from SRM Publisher, Sharon Lee and Steve Miller!

Number One! Stimulate a friend. You know who we mean – the friend you Just Know would fall in love with the Liaden Universe® , but you don’t quite want to let them borrow one of your books? That one? Why not give them an April 15 (or 16, or 17...) present – their very own brand new trade paperback copy of Balance of Trade OR Partners in Necessity? With SRM’s Stimulus Package, it’s an easy gift to give. Only $15.09* for the Meisha Merlin edition of Partners in Necessity (retailing for $23.95; on sale at Amazon.com for $16.29**). Or! Chose Balance of Trade for only $10.68* (retailing for $16.95; on sale at Amazon.com for $12.71**). Right, that's 37% off the
regular retail price.

Number Two! Stimulate yourself. At these prices, you can afford to replace that much-loved, often read edition with a brand-new book!

Number Three! Stimulate Sharon and Steve by turning some of the books they received from Meisha Merlin in lieu of money owed into, well. . . money.

Honest, nobody loses with this deal!

. . .except if you wait. There are only 90 copies of each book available to this stimulus event. When they’re gone, the price goes up! So act now! Go to the SRM Publisher website – order your books and enter the coupon code BEAT THE RIVER at the bottom of the order form. Remember, you're saving 37% off retail.

Yes, snail-mail orders will be accepted, but remember! There are a limited number of books available for this offer.

OK – small print:

* does NOT include shipping, which will be added at checkout for web orders. Snailmail orders from North America, please include $7 for postage.

** Amazon.com has Partners and Balance in stock as new books. These books are apparently leftovers that were in the sales channel when Meisha Merlin went out of business. Lee and Miller receive no royalties from the sales of any new Meisha Merlin book purchased through Amazon.com. No, we don’t know where the money goes. But, really – who would you rather support with your purchase, the authors? or some humongous corporation?

Promotion ends May 30 or when supplies run out, whichever comes first. Void where prohibited. Usual rules apply.

Please direct any questions about this promotion to infoATsrmpublisher.com (where @ replaces AT)
