*O Wise Flist -- I once long ago had a Relationship with Rhapsody, and I downloaded music, some of which I burned to CD and so still have, but other pieces of music -- nost! -- that was bought and paid for, I did not burn to CD and so lost it Forever when I switched desktops. This Put Me Off. However! Time heals, and I now wish to buy some singles again, so that I may burn them to a CD which will serve as a companion to that first, long ago, CD, which is a favorite for long road trips. If I succumb to this artistic impulse and buy music from iTunes, will it/they let me burn them to CD? Any tips/pitfalls?

Yes, yes: "Spam LiveJournal" was not on the to-do list.

An advertent reader tells me that the Locus Poll is now out. They note that eligible Lee & Miller, and Lee, novels are not listed, and neither were many of their favorite works of 2010. They also note that they made ample use of the write-in options.

The Locus Poll is a reader poll. Anyone can vote. Please only vote once. Mr. Kelly takes a dim, dim view of "ballot box stuffing." As he should. If you participate, please also be truthful about your gender. Mr. Kelly has in the past had a difficult time believing that women read SF in numbers.

. . .or maybe only Monday.

Well, I had great plans for today, chiefest among them wringing a complete first draft out of my underachieving brain and onto the page.  This did not happen.  Honest to ghu, how long can it take to write a single story?

I did shovel snow — the snow was wet, the day was warm — and took care of bidness correspondence, some of which begat more correspondence to be done, um, later.  I paid medical bills in-hand, and there’s still money in the checkbook.  I did the laundry.  I fell on Mozart, which may have been his plan, but wasn’t mine.  Just generally speaking, I’m at a point in my life where the less I fall down, the better I like it.  Reprising the role I play in Real Life, I have been an Evil Liberal on teh intertubes.  I did not do the dishes, because I didn’t want to.   I received the wisdom of the LJ Flist on iTunes, for which I thank everyone who shared very much.

. . .and that’s all the news &c.  Time for lunch and the girding of one’s loins for the morrow.
