Relief and Amaze

The relief is because I have finally and at last finished the Chapter From Hell, which shall henceforth be known as Chapter Ten. Rarely have I been so glad to type the words "Chapter Eleven." Let my pain and suffering be a Lesson to All. In writing fiction, you can't just change one thing.

And now, as a reward for having toughed it out to the end of Chapter Ten, I'm going to go read Narbonic Three.

Chapter Nine and Chapter Ten are a set, but Nine needed much less reworking than Ten -- more on the order of a few paragraphs inserted to replace a few paragraphs rendered Obsolete by the Change-One-Thing. Chapter Ten not only had to be Completely Rewritten, but I had to retrofit a buncha Clues and Threads so that the rest of the story as more-or-less written will still work. In other words, Chapter Ten was one of those blessed Pivotal Chapters. It was painful, but now it is done. And done well, I hope, but that waits for later...
