We're looking at 91F/33C, with high humidity, producing a heat index between 100 and 104F/38-40C. We already have the high humidity part and the rest seems to be baking along nicely. For some value of 'nicely.'

This is not the sort of weather that Mainers are good at coping with, or that most Maine buildings are built to withstand.

We have a heat advisory in effect. People are advised to stay indoors, in air conditioning if possible, to avoid strenuous outdoor activities, and to drink plenty of water.

If the thunderstorms come through -- and I'm not seeing any thunderstorms on that weather map -- temps will drop and we'll have a more clement and seasonal day tomorrow, highs around 77F/25C.

Today's telepathy exercise is: Think thunderstorms.

Well, here in Michigan it's currently 95 with a heat index of 105. No-one is complaining about coming to work in our air conditioned building!

i'd say you were wimps, but I know what humidity can do to you. Of course, when it is 100F, it's 100, but at least here the heat index is 100, also. Move to the west. Low humidity.
