It's all
jennifer_dunne's fault. The high school meme.
Out of consideration for those who could care less, it's
1. Who was your best friend?
Shirley Bonkowski
2.What sports did you play?
None
3. What kind of car did you drive?
I walked
4. It's Friday night, where were you?
In my room, reading, and listening to The Nutcracker Suite really loud on my hard-earned record player.
5. Were you a party animal?
As much then as now
6. Were you considered a flirt?
This is a joke, right?
7. Ever skip school?
Nope
8. Were you a nerd?
Nope
9. Were you in any clubs?
...y'know, I don't remember. I was on the staff of the school magazine for a while.
10. Did you get suspended/expelled?
God, no.
11. Can you sing the fight song?
Nope
12. Who was your favorite teacher?
Richard Price
13. Favorite class?
English
14. What was your school's full name?
Parkville Senior High School
15. School mascot?
Knight, as in the chess piece
16. Did you go to dances?
Um, no
17. If you could go back and do it over, would you?
Not if you paid me Serious Money and made me pretty, too
18. What do you remember most about graduation?
Being corked off because my name wasn't read off with the rest of the names of those who had achieved the honor roll. My grades qualified me, but it was decided that, because I was a business student, I didn't actually qualify.
19. Favorite memory of your Senior Year?
Graduating
21. Did you have a job your senior year?
...and my junior year and my freshman year
22. Where did you go most often for lunch?
School cafeteria was the only option
24. What did you do after graduation?
Started my first full time job at...the State of Maryland Department of Environmental Protection, as a Secretary I.
25.Long term:
Published my first short story in 1980 and my first novel in 1988. Did a buncha other stuff, too
26. Where are most of your classmates?
Haven't a clue
27. Are you going/did you go to your 10-year reunion?
Didn't. Nor yet the 20-year reunion, if there was one. My class wasn't terribly organized.
28. Who was your worst teacher?
One thing about being Older Than Dirt(tm)? You forget lots of useless stuff, like this.
29. Did your life turn out different then you would have expected?
Yes, very much. I hadn't at all expected to live this long, and I've achieved my childhood goal (really) of writing a book.
30. What were the popular movies that year?
MASH, Little Big Man, Patton, Kelly's Heroes, Five Easy Pieces, Tora!Tora!Tora!, Catch-22, Beneath the Planet of the Apes, The AristoCats, Love Story (courtesy of IMBD.com)
