The ceramic tree is lit. The big inside wreath is lit. The outside wreath and various other objects of the season are lit. Thus do we celebrate the return of the light. Though it's hard to see it through all this rain...

Rituals of the House have been observed. A pilgrimage was made to the Music Gallery in Waterville, where we came away with four CDs. kinzel has proposed chocolate chip cookies and deviled eggs. Mozart has proposed a nap. Scrabble is writing a report on the decorations, with suggestions on how they can be improved for next year.

Presents have arrived, unexpectedly, via mail and DHL and UPS. Cheese! the Pride and Prejudice board game! a hand-carved wooden dragon! calendars from faraway places*! expressive post-its! books! It is to be both thankful and amazed.

Today is the day I finally and truly find the top of my work table. No, really. Also, the state of the file drawers mandates a move of the 2006 files to a banker's box Right Now. Ah, and Theo is dropping subtle hints for attention, polite child that she is.

Ahem.
