I was sucked into the world of Girl Genius a few years ago, and have been badly addicted to the website ever since.

Welcome to the club!

The regencies sound intriguing - and I've been wanting to pick up the Burton.

Just to clarify -- Miss Melville... isn't a Regency; it's a mystery set in New York City about an impoverished society lady who must turn to assassination to keep body and soul together.

An Assembly... is (the first third of) Pride and Prejudice told from Darcy's viewpoint.

I had tried to get into Girl Genius several times in the past, but the backstory just overwhelmed me; especially the prospect of reading it all on the computer. I decided to try a book though, and I'm glad I did.

And, while I like Agatha very well, my heart belongs to Helen B. Narbon -- http://www.narbonic.com

Does Miss Narbon find herself scantily clad as often as Agatha does?

Actually, no. But I'm OK with that.

Whoa, I just realized why your description of that odd cover for the Czech ed. of CoH sounded familiar.

Is that the same picture?

That's the one. On the one hand, one oughtn't complain about having a Jim Burns cover...

Hmm, the only on that list that I've read is the Pamela Aidan book. But, speaking of reading lists, I spent a ridiculous amount of time over the last few weeks transcribing my handwritten book journals into Excel--all the books I've read since 1996--and thought it was interesting that, since discovering the Liaden books in September 2002, I've read (and reread) books by you and Steve 59 times--you even made my "top ten favorite" authors by sheer volume . . . whew! Not bad for five years' worth of reading, huh?

it's really nice to see someone else keeping a book list like that. i've done mine in excel since 1994 and over the years added bits and pieces (1st read, or re=read, own or library, audio or text) and a couple of years ago started adding movies as well (i only do half a dozen movies a year, so it's not a major input).

Fifty-nine re-reads in five years? Impressive, indeed!

Thank you!

what did you think of Changeling? i read it for a Mythopoeic Society meeting and found it a mild, pleasant read but much, much lighter (cotton candy as it were) than i expected from that author.

I was ...expecting something crunchier, so I was thrown off-balance. I don't think it's a bad book; it just wasn't the book I had expected. You'd think I'd know better than that...
