Attention Wonder Shoppers: I am looking for -- and want to buy! -- a CD version of Meg Davis' album Captain Jack and the Mermaid. This is apparently a Stupidly Difficult Desire on my part, and yet -- I am adamant. Can someone please find me a reputable place from which to purchase this item?

Frustratedly yours,

Rolanni

I did find that one. But, if I'm reading it right, the site hasn't been updated since 2002, which makes me ...a little concerned that I might be dropping a check off into a black hole.

Well, they do have a phone number to call...

They were at a local filk convention just this past weekend. I promise they're real.

Kay's still out there and selling stuff, she just doesn't get around to updating the website very often :-) (I see her pretty regularly on r.m.f. over on the Usenet side of the 'net).

Another option would be to drop a note to [livejournal.com profile] billroper (his username @ LJ should work just fine - he's got a permanent account). Bill and his wife Gretchen are Secret Empire (you may have run into them at a midwest con or two), sellers of filk and other fine music. They don't have a web presence, but I suspect they could work something out for you - they happen to be who I got my copy of that CD from (tho' I got it at a con). Drop him a note by email, and let him know that Melissa Glasser sent you his direction.

Although it might take him a little longer than usual to reply to e-mails - he's currently recovering from knee surgery. I do highly second the recommendation!

Have you tried The official Meg Davis website (http://www.megdavis.com/page008.html)?

Went there first, said Yay!, clicked on the PayPal link -- and got some kind of runaround about Meg Davis not being a verified vendor, and couldn't order. Also -- it seems like Meg's site hasn't been updated in a year or six...

hmmmm - drop her a line? - I got that very same CD from her - off her web-site, not six months ago?

You might try asking your question in the Filkhaven LJ Community (http://community.livejournal.com/filkhaven/). Or asking Leo and Kathy Sands if they've got (or can find) a copy for you.

Solid Viper Music has it on their list:

And I saw it as a LP on Ebay:
