Hmm. "Duty and Desire" was my least favorite of that trilogy--but the finale made up for it (grin).

It was heavy going, not to say ultimately pointless. I came *this close* to giving up on it, but I was stuck someplace without anything else to read, so I finished it. Now, though, I'm not at all certain I want to go on to the third...

My feeling was that it stretched the possibility of what Mr. Darcy was doing during that long stretch when Elizabeth was worrying about Jane, trying to keep her sisters under control, and worrying about Mr. Wickham's change of attention far, far beyond the realm of possibility. The third book, though, gets back on track and more or less starts off with Mr. Darcy on his way to visit his sweet, lovely Aunt Catherine (ahem). Once the author is back on track with Jane Austen's story, it definitely improves. And Mr. Darcy's friend Dyfus is rather a treat.

Meanwhile, me? I just started re-reading Crystal Soldier last night . . . good authors, you should try it! (grin)
