Found a brace of blue potatoes in the bin. Forgot I'd had them. Well. Blue potato salad with red onions is festive, right?

From the Department of Good News/Bad News:

* A gift check from the parental units arrived in yesterday's post -- much appeciated!

* The Subaru's windshield cracked straight across while Steve was out running errands.

* The windshield place gave us an 8 a.m. Christmas Eve appointment, with promises that the new windshield will be in by noon.

* We'll have change back from the check.


And, in a rare concession to the Season, Mozart agreed to sit for a portrait, with the Toy of the Moment, a yellow plush rattlemouse :

And you _definitely_ should have a panel on Maine Coon cats at the con.

Well, it only took us about four years of suggesting the topic every year to get a panel on cat whisker collecting. We had a standing-room-only crowd by the time we'd worn the committee down. However, I'm not sure that Boskone's vision of itself can support another such, and I'd hate to push 'em to the edge. It is our home con, after all...

A surprising number of people do have cat whisker collections. To the folks who don't, however, the entire concept is apparently...weird, if not outright distasteful. At the least they suspect that you're having fun at their expense.
