Found a brace of blue potatoes in the bin. Forgot I'd had them. Well. Blue potato salad with red onions is festive, right?

From the Department of Good News/Bad News:

* A gift check from the parental units arrived in yesterday's post -- much appeciated!

* The Subaru's windshield cracked straight across while Steve was out running errands.

* The windshield place gave us an 8 a.m. Christmas Eve appointment, with promises that the new windshield will be in by noon.

* We'll have change back from the check.

And, in a rare concession to the Season, Mozart agreed to sit for a portrait, with the Toy of the Moment, a yellow plush rattlemouse :

Mighty fine fellow, that Mozart. His paws seem big.

Yep, he has the Patented Coon Cat Bigfoot(tm), tufts between the toes and all. Maine coon cats are uniquely adapted to survive in Maine, which means, among other fine features, nice big feet to spread their weight out over the snow.

How much does he weigh?

He's right around 15 pounds.

Only 15 pounds? He's Tiny! The fellow in my icon consistently weighs in between 18 and 20 pounds. He's our coon cat with patented BigFoots that he likes to hang off of my shoulder...

Well...not tiny. Scrabble, now -- that's Scrabble in the icon -- weighs in at 7.5 pounds, which is tiny. OTOH, not a Maine coon cat...

Remember back before the Maine Coons when a 10 pound cat was too fat? Now all other cats look like dwarves...
