rolanni: (Eat Drums!)

It started snowing leisurely at 7:10 this morning. When I left the house ten minutes later, it was snowing with a will. By the time I got to the gas station, six miles away, the streets were covered, the air was white and driving was getting treacherous fast. Despite these challenges, I made it to the day-job in one piece, where the insanity continued. Eventually, the snow stopped, though the insanity did not, and I was able to stagger away at four o'clock and undertake a thrill-less drive home, where I buckled down to writing, last night having been lost to doing the taxes.

We may have some Exciting News in the next few days (I'm such a tease). In the meantime, though, it's snowing.

For the drive home tonight we had heavy snow falling over the morning's frozen rain, rain, and sleet.

Took me nearly an hour and a half to get home (6.6 miles) from work instead of the usual 20-30 minutes (depending on traffic). And I think I may need new tires, as I had to stop twice going up the same hill, and nearly wasn't able to get going again.

Spin, spin, spin go the tires on the slippery slope.

Oh, and my local friend [livejournal.com profile] charles_midair just described today's forecast as:

"rain turning to ice turning to snow turning to bricks falling from high orbit"

You appear to have gotten off light. 18 hours of heavy blowing snow, with a two hour drive home over rural highways. Mostly only able to look out through a small patch at the bottom of the window. Because freeing the wipers from ice meant stopping, and stopping meant staying there until morning.
