**"Read" is slightly misleading in this case; the book has no words.  It's put together like an old photograph album, and tells the story of a man who leaves his family to find a better life for them in a new country.  Goes on the keeper shelf.

I have been given Moon Called to read - shall I like it, I wonder? Considering finishing Dead Witch Walking is becoming a chore?

I have discovered the reason I find most vampire stories distasteful, I think. I am made almost physically sick by the "I will take your Will away and you will think and feel what I want you to and believe that you like it and actually wanted it after all" kind of powers so many writers have given them. I can hardly think of anything worse to befall me. Should they ever bring me so before you, be kind enough to follow Miri's solution. I would be grateful.

Well, I haven't read Dead Witch Walking. I tend to avoid vampire romances -- Sookie Stackhouse excepted, because I read them as comedies, so sue me -- but I pretty much find vampires boring. I enjoyed all three of the Mercy Thompson books (Moon Called, Blood Bound, and Iron Kissed) -- maybe I have a soft spot for werewolves. There are vampires, as well as other magical creatures, in the series, but you and Mercy would probably have more in common with your view of the vamps than not.
