Wither the weather?
Thursday, July 24th, 2008 06:53 pmThe tornado never materialized, which is Just as Well. It has been raining now and then, sometimes quite heavily, as the supersaturated sky gives up its extra moisture. I'm not sure that the pot tomatoes Steve planted are going to survive the exigencies of the day.
I spent the evening since coming home catching up on paperwork, clearing the decks for an all-weekend run at Fledgling. There's some heavy rewriting to be done in the mid-to-latter portions and I'd really like to be through the worst of that before we leave for Denver in -- eep! -- ten days.
Part of my paperwork was the recording of Saltation donations. We have now placed 777 copies, leaving but a scant 423 yearning for a home.
Everybody stay dry.

Date: 2008-07-25 05:13 pm (UTC)What's with PA nowdays? We got caught in a fierce thunderstorm just outside of Hershey last Friday on our way down to Maryland. Luckily, we were parallel to the entrance of a rest area as the first wave swept across the interstate and Steve pulled us in. We initially came to rest under a tree, but a downburst hit and branches started coming at us, so we moved -- carefully -- across the lot (between a pair of those artful aluminum street lights that were swinging so hard in the wind I'd thought they were going to break). Between the rain, thunder and lightning, it was hard to understand what was going on, and all I kept thinking was, "We're mostly fine, now, but if this beast has calved a twister, we are so toasted and served with butter."
Eight minutes later, the sun was out, and we could see the carnage -- mostly downed branches, though half a tree did come down between two parked cars on the side of the lot that we had quit...
