How long is the time line involved here?

The young tend to change fairly rapidly over a short period of time. Us oldsters tend to expand more slowly (think Turtles). On the shoulder to shoulder thing mentioned in Theo that could also change unless the authors were being metaphorical.
BTW is there a current description of Theo?
I'm not reading chapter to chapter because of my previously mentioned problem with serialization.
Her description in "I Dare" is:
"She wasn't much more than a kid: undergrown, sharp-faced, and pale;her hair an uncertain sort of yellow, unruly rather than curly; dark eyes smudged by lack of sleep.
