Do not plan on getting Anything Useful done during the first three weeks of the fall semester. Just lay in a buncha bubblegum books and plan on coming home and turning into a vegetable. Do not plan on finishing the final draft of a novel during those three weeks, and do not agree to a deadline that falls within those three weeks.

In other news, has anyone here who has a vendor or prime account at PayPal been having trouble with their monthly financial report not truly reflecting sales? This is one of those things that makes me utterly crazy, because I can't figure out how it can be different from the raw data, and yet...

In the spirit of doing Anything Useful, I logged into PayPal last night to download the financials, only to find that the monthly financial report showed that this particular account had earned -- wait for it -- $25 in August, while the raw transaction-by-transaction showed an amount...considerably in excess of that. Before anyone asks, yes I did check the Obvious -- the date spread, the month -- as far as I can tell, I asked the same question of the monthly financial report and the transaction-by-transaction report -- and got two wildly different answers.

Worse, a glance back at the books reveals that the last two months' financial statements have been inaccurate, though to a degree lesser enough that I, in my apparently now habitual frenzied state, didn't notice.

Not a happy camper.

Thunderstorms and low 70/21 temps today. Maybe the temperature in my office will fall below 80/26.

PayPal fees? You factored those in, yes?

Yep. The financial report has a separate line to account the fees. So it would look like this:

SALES: $xxx.xx
FEES: $xx.xx

The *fees* seem to be correct, but the sales figure is off by hundreds.

Which piece(s) of my steel would you like to borrow? My husband, heart of my heart, soul of my soul, just bought me a Celtic blade for my birthday and there's a Chinese Dragon spring-steel that I'd rather were left out of the mix, but other than that...

Thought you might like to know that my local library has just gotten Duainfey in. Except it's not in the library right now, it's checked out to me. :)

A friend of mine emailed me this morning to tell me that her PayPal account had been hacked to the tune of some $600. You might want to check into that possibility.

And can I just say, I LOVE that icon.

Cheery thoughts...

No one every gets anything done at the beginning of the semester. That's an Unwritten Rule. Trust me. I am the Child of Educators.

Mother: "Kathryn? Why aren't you pursuing a teaching degree?"
Me: "Oh. ::evading question:: I could never remember anyone's name. It would just be pointless. I can see me now. You! Yes, you in the red shirt, two seats back in the second row! What is the answer to the question? And what would happen if I sent someone to the Principal's office?? I mean, really. Think about the permutations."

Now for cheery thoughts:

My friend [livejournal.com profile] saraphina_marie, who wrote A Year and A Day (http://www.amazon.com/Year-Day-Sara-M-Harvey/dp/1933725133/ref=pd_bbs_4?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1221081237&sr=8-4), put it up in her lj and I had the feeling that you'd find it cheerful. ::grin:: Her own comment upon posting was, "Because we all need a little bit more *squee* in our lives, don't we?" I first met her at one of our local cons, Hypericon (http://hypericon.info/). We missed 4 due to circumstances beyond our control. It's the only place I've ever entered a costume contest. My ex called me up the first year because they were devoid of entrants at first. I change outfits at least three times a day at a con so I threw myself, my husband, and my red-headed step-child into PsiCorps outfits. We won. Of course, using my psi power on one of the Klingons judging might have had something to do with it... ::flicks invisible lint off of coat::
