Tonight is the first night of the Halloween Countdown.

Do you know where your copy of A Night in the Lonesome October is?

Yes I do -- It is six feet behind me on the book shelf.

Does it start 9/30 or 10/1?

I'll have to look when I get home.

My Copy is....

In one of the 14 book boxes still sitting in the living room. Unfortunately, I need to rearrange the furniture and assemble two bookcases before I can unpack many more boxes, so I probably won't be reading along from the beginning of the month. Maybe next year.

"My" copy belongs to someone else, and it's five thousand miles away.

Checked it out of the library two days ago - I'm trying to translate each day's entry into Gaelic. Can't find any word for mandrake or nightshade though. :-(

Scottish or Irish gaelic?

If Scottish mandrake is probably 'mandrag' and the closest I found to nightshade (assuming you're meaning deadly nightshade/belladonna) is lus na h-oidhche (plant or flower of the night)

You know, I'm not sure I do know. I do know mine is signed by both of them . . .

About four feet to my left in that wall of books. I think third shelf from the floor, left side but I will have to go look.

My cat is already dressed for the big event.

We have a set of tapes of "Night" read by Roger Zelazny himself. Last year I transferred it to mp3s so we can listen to each day's entry on the appropriate day. Thanks for reminding me!

I've got those, too! Wonderful reading by Roger.

Got to pull them down and listen.
