...I think I've got the last third of the book nailed. There will be Changes from the draft-as-written, naturally, and I'm not totally certain how Mumble gets their bit sorted, but that's always the way with Mumble, who is one of those characters who runs best on their own. Yeah, a little too well on their own...

Wow, there are two deep cover agents in this book! Why did it take me until now to realize this?

Despite the fact that I have written no Words in a Row today, excepting the synopsis of the action so I don't forget any of my Brilliant Insights, I have done a Full Day's Work. For a reward, I'll do dishes, then get comfy and watch an old movie. His Girl Friday. I said 'old', right?

In Cat News: Hex does not like humans to crawl on the floor. Whereas Mozart will stare down his (consisderable) nose at a crawling human with a slightly pained look ("Oh, please..."); and Scrabble will merrily trot along under said human's belly; Hex was Seriously Alarmed -- arched back and careful back-away Alarmed. Huh.

In Housekeeping News: The laundry is done. Truly, I am made of Awesome.

Aaaaand! It's still raining.

With apologies for errors in translation:

Roughly translated "Actually, it would be like this in Japanese." Note that it should be right-justified, not left.

Could I borrow some Awesome, please? At 4:45 on a Saturday afternoon, I have just started the laundry. But it was a wonderfully lazy morning before I went out and did errands.

I have to ask... did you get his name from David Weber's Honor Harrington series, or has it popped up somewhere else I am unaware of?

Hex's Official Name, it says here on the paperwork, is Blueblaze Sphinxian Hexapuma. I had to ask what a Hexapuma was, and was told that it was a shoutout to David Weber.

Ah, now I know how to pass the time waiting for more Theo (just finishing reread of all Liad books) I can go through my collection of Honor Harrington searching for all the treecat bits.

BTW, the newest, now being snippeted in Mutter of Demons among other places, has a REAL, True, Maine Coon Cat being introduced. Can't wait until he meets a treecat.

Hexapuma's on the planet Sphinx have six limbs. Your Hex (or H.P. for short), simply always had very large feet, hence the name.

In which case, you should take the time to enjoy his short story "A Beautiful Friendship", in the first Honorverse anthology (More Than Honor). It will explain much about both treecats and hexapumas.
