Whoooot!! Time to pimp the authors again!!!! Whoooot!!!! I've been so waiting to do this... and just in time for Christmas too. muahahahahahahaha Oh, and I've got such an Evile Thought™! I can corrupt... ummm... ah... uh... I mean educate my 15 yo daughter without endangering my own copies!* ::perks:: I shall just have to put off work and pass this on first. heh.

*She got totally addicted to Mercedes Lackey and used to steal my books, hide them, swear up and down that she did not have them, and when found, they were in hideous condition. ::frown:: When I was her age, I kept my books in pristine condition. In fact, my book collection is quite suitable for my children to be able to read without any spine or pages being cracked or falling out. harumph!

Unfortunately that depends to an extent on the book binding. A Certain Publisher (OK, Tor) was well known at one point for having bindings (the so-called "perfect binding") which broke and covers fell off if the book was read at all. (Not their fault, apparently their printers changed glue supplies and Tor couldn't do anything about it, but it still cost them a lot in sending out replacements.) I have some others which have to be opened so far to actually read the inner words on the page that the spines always break. And I have others which, although looking perfect, have had the glue dry out so that the slightest movement causs the pages to fall out.

I suspect that the hardiness of books is related to when they were made. I have some from when I was a kid which are fine, but ones I bought only a few years ago are falling apart.

This is true, however I had already these books at least 15 times myself before she mutilated them. And the mutilation included cover creasing. grrrrrrrrr

I always told my nieces and nephew that, "books are our friends and we don't break our friends spines, nor do we leave our friends to languish on the bathroom floor". OK its a little dark but sometimes dark works.

LOL!! I love this! Jennifer leaves her friends under her bed, in her bed, in her closet, on her floor, in her backpack, stuffed in nooks and crannies... and given that she goes through several a day sometimes...

sure is

Yay! I might have to a bookstore just to admire it. I don't really need a third set of the Liaden Universe... although I do have a friend that really needs to get into space opera. Mwahaha.

Congratulations

I'm currently developing a blog to reprint some of my older reviews. I had one for Partners in Necessity so I posted that along with a mention of the Agent of Change reprint. If you'd like to see it, go to:

I'm glad you're pleased. Oh, I forgot to mention -- you're welcome to excerpt that review for promotional purposes, if you wish.

Sounds like a good excuse to stop at the Independent bookstore on the way to Mom's for Thanksgiving. I'm missing one of the Ace paperbacks. I'm pretty sure it's not this one, but buying it will be good for the economy (and provide a lending copy)

Hurrah! Most excellent. I'll always like the original cover the best, though. Edger FTW.
