...if this movie is meant to be a drama or a comedy?

*is terribly confused by trailer*

Who knows? Where was this made? Maybe the film is an action musical (why else the dance numbers?) Sure looks like one more not to go to (I haven't been to but three movies in three years).

Who knows?

Someone must; it's why I asked.

Where was this made?

Says Warner Brothers there at the top of the page, and Orion at the bottom. From a story by
Shridhar Raghavan.

Sure looks like one more not to go to

You never know, it might be fun. I don't actually go to movies, mind you, I order in from Netflix. And I like strange movies. What worries me about this one is that the bad guy looks a little too bad for a comedy. *Shrugs* could be he's the only one in the cast who can actually act, what do I know?

I wish I could edit my post, I would hate to delete it leaving yours out hanging in the win. Anyway, "Who knows?" was my clumsy way of saying "Damifino" or words to that effect. Sorry for saying it.

I could see the production companies, but recognized none of them but WB. Movies nowadays seem to have as many as half a dozen production companies involved, and frankly, I figured those were all vanity credits for people who had put up some money.

the thought of China finally raised its ugly head; until then, I figured it was probably from Bollywood. I have no idea what kind of pix are made in Asia nowadays.

I can't claim to have great taste--or any taste, for that matter--in movies. The last three I went to were Mamma Mia!, Hellboy II, and Phaantom of the Opera. My spouse dragged me to the two musicals. I'd rather spend my $5 at the IHOP.

IMDB identifies it as a comedy.

Have you seen Kung Fu Hustle? Same concept. Comedic drama is the best way for me to describe it... or maybe dramedy. It usually contains Buddhist philosophy. But then, they're often made in China and have a ton of "OMG I adore this!!" over-the-top for Western audiences Kung Fu special effects. I'll be there. I'll buy the DVD. I can't wait. I am so glad you posted this.

I haven't, but I have seen Shaolin Soccer. I just thought it was...an aberration, not a genre.

It actually even has it's own term, Mo lei tau (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mo_lei_tau) and originates from Hong Kong. Although if you are an aficionado of martial arts movies from Asia, you can see comedic aspects even in the earlier films. They're just not blatant. Merely a few bits and pieces scattered thither and yon. But then most of my kith and kin don't understand how I can spend a weekend immersed in things like Challenge of the Lady Ninja.

Bollywood movies often combine elements of everything, so it's entirely likely to be a comedy with dramatic elements and lots of fighting.

Thanks for pointing this out. I'm already dying to know how a crossover Bollywood/kung-fu movie by Warner Bros. could possibly work.

Burton from Montreal

The trailer isn't that strange or confusing for a Bollywood movie. It's got action, singing and dancing with tepid love scenes if any. I found this type of movie quite unwatchable after first few. The plot is thin, repetitious and set in stone for all Bollywood movies. This movie just got a different contemporary setting than the usual classical Hindi mythos setting.

If you hadn't watch Bollywood flicks before, enjoy the strange experience before becoming jaded. The movie will of course do boffo box office outside of North America like most Bollywood movies.

Comedy or Drrama
