Snow and sleet this evening...
Wednesday, January 28th, 2009 06:47 pmWell, at least the weatherbeans have backed the total accumulation from 24 inches to 16. As fluffy as this stuff is, the depth to which it eventually rises is almost academic. 'Course the sleet'll fix that. *sigh*.
I have finished this evening's data entry and can now report to the breathless masses, as well as those still breathing, that 984 Saltations have been pre-emptively placed in happy homes, leaving only 216 available for adoption. Don't miss out, order today!
At the day-job, I'm coordinating three separate job searches. We shall be seeing a steady parade of Academic Persons from Away starting next week and stretching off into March sometime.
I've been staring at the paperwork of scheduling all these people with all those faculty members, travel arrangements, talk posters, room reservations, and otherminutiaetooghastlytodwellupon for so long, that I can't force my brain to latch onto the sense of what still needs to be done for each. This afternoon, before I called it a day, I sat down with each file and made a list of needed tasks for it. Hopefully, this strategy will at least get me through the series without having sent Candidate A on to Candidate F's interview.
It is, of course, the candidate with the most complicated travel arrangements (already in place) who today informed me that All Must Be Redone. Also of course, the candidate in question is the second scheduled to visit us. It's so lovely when things follow a Known Pattern.
But! It's seven o'clock. I'm going to go pull Steve off his computer, and pour us a glass of wine. We'll eat dinner while we watch the snow skirl 'round the porch light.
