And now, we get to the New Stuff

Started the day adrenaline-jazzed and 'way too short on sleep. Which I'll just mention is not the best way to approach a day that included re-doing Every. Single. Room. Reservation. I'd made in the month of January, for months that followed January. It seems that the scheduling system will allow one to make such reservations and will confirm them, but on the first day of classes, they're all overwritten by the registrar's office. I'm told that the System is Operating Exactly As It Should and There Is No Problem, except maybe mine for somehow not realizing that this is a Perfect System.
If I'd understood that this was how the Perfect System "works" you wanna know who would've spent January lying on a couch with a series of cheap novels, instead of busting her head at work?
Gah.
Anyhow, the adrenaline wore me out just around quitting time, which I guess is Pretty Good Timing. I took myself down to SRM Galactic Headquarters, chugged one of Steve's Pepsis for the sugar and caffeine kick (man, Pepsi tastes some awful), and helpfully held the door open while he manhandled a heavy pine desk into the office. So to home, for a walk on the newly excavated treadmill, and some quality time with Mouse and Dragon.
I am pleased to report that I have now reached the point in the narrative where New Stuff begins to happen, rather than Old Stuff filled out. I hope that I've given Brand New Readers enough Clue as to what's gone before to allow them entrance into the story. I'll worry Seriously about that Some Time Later. Anybody know a science fiction reader who hasn't read any Liaden books who might be willing to be a guinea pig?
Sadly, the bookshelf which has been uncovered by the same box-moving action that liberated the treadmill does not contain my copy of Fine Prey by Scott Westerfield. Drat! That bookshelf was my last hope. I was certain it was in this house somewhere. Phooey. Anyone have a copy they'd be willing to lend?
Progress on Mouse and Dragon
G'night.

Date: 2009-02-05 07:33 pm (UTC)I will be needing a naive (to the Liaden Universe(R)) reader(s), but not just yet. The book has to be a little steadier on its legs, yet.
