From the Usual Suspects.

Each year, hundreds of words are dropped from the English language. Your job, should you choose to accept it--save one. Just hit the adopt-a-word link, and go from there. Warning: The desperate little voices may not be work-safe.

My word is bimarian adj -- of or pertaining to two seas. "At the time of the mutiny, the captain had just completed a bimarian voyage." Kin-words: bimarine -- between two seas -- and bimarical -- of two seas. I shall use it, and them, proudly.

The new UPS is charging behind me, sigh. I have Outlined More, and finally gotten Aelliana to put all of her things into the right pockets. Stubborn, stubborn woman.

Steve leaves for Boskone tomorrow morning, and I hope to turn most of these notes into chapters over the weekend. So far, it's looking like good times ahead.

Oh, and for [livejournal.com profile] mbarker:

She blinked. "Can -- is that by Code?"

His lips twitched. "Oddly enough, it is. Korval's interest in pilots is well-known. It falls well within my honor to offer Korval's protection to an endangered pilot." He tipped his head. "Such an action will, perhaps, not please your delm, but it will freeze all of the pieces on the board, for however long you choose."

Weather and Stubborn UPS's

(Writing from Harrisburg, PA the evening of 2/12/2009) I am glad to hear that your new UPS is working nicely. Anything to help you get 'Mouse and Dragon' finished as quickly as possible is greatly to be desired. HOWEVER, if your old UPS died as a result of wind causing intermittent outages, you might want to consider keeping your PC powered down until the wind storm that hit the Mid-Atlantic states today blows through. The wind here in Harrisburg, PA, today was positively vicious; there were sustained winds of 25 to 35 mph, with gusts up to the low 60 mph range. I was home with a bad cold, and even the cats appeared to be somewhat unsettled by the wind at times.

Oh -- early Valentine's Day!

Thanks! Great little snippet, with plenty of potential for action, conflict, drama . . . much appreciated.

Yes, yes wonderful snippet. Whenever they might happen there will be applause and thanks from those of us out here who wait. That sounded weird but I'll leave it anyway.

The wind blowing your way is definitely definite. Has calmed here in MI and there are tales of snow again after the pesky stuff all melted (in two days!).

Another night with the mind running in circles of mad speculation and little sleep:)

Idle wonder, but . . . I seem to recollect pockets in sleeves. Some mention of public and private pockets, perhaps in Balance of Trade. I suppose cargo pants -- oh, that's right, Jethri enjoyed his cargo pants?

Just contemplating. Sometimes capes have pockets (and I do think of Liaden dress as perhaps including capes, although I'm not sure why). A fashion here in Japan has vests with inner pockets and external ones -- I think of them as fisherman's vests, although they are popular with older gentlemen for some reason.

Idle wonder about the mode of dress that Aelliana has trouble getting all her stuff in the pockets of (boy, that's a garbled sentence). And all the fun we're going to have when all that stuff gets yanked out in the reading :-)

It was more the author's trouble remembering/figuring out what things she had to have had on her, either stated or by inference, when she came to the Healers. You wouldn't think that this would be hard...
