Just finished reading Carousel Tides for the first time since I turned it in to Madame the Agent, back in December 2006 -- enough of a break that I could read it as if it were written by somebody else. Mostly, I think it hangs together well, though the ending happens 'way too fast. I think the author was getting tired. Though, actually, the whole book happens 'way fast -- nine days, as the Changing World counts days, from start to finish. Yowsa.

I do adore the batwing horse.

Having thus refreshed my memory, I'm ready to talk to The Nice Editor Lady about those changes she wanted.

Snippet for the curious:

"Nay, nay, keep your sweet words close, my lady, and be niggardly in their spending! For when those are gone, there will be no more, I warrant."

"You're probably right," I said, coming around to the lee side of the rock. Cross-legged and quite naked, Nerazi sat with her back against the rock's rustling grass shirt, her rump cozy and warm on a sealskin blanket, braiding her silver hair.

The only book by Laurell K Hamilton that I like (Nightseer) takes place over 3 days. You have 6 extra days to play with :).
