I'm drooling over the fabric. I'm not so much a fan of the design as the concept of the design. That shape of corset is probably the most unflattering bodice line you could give me. The sleeves look awkward and it's much too long waisted, esp for the model. You could do some judicious editing (http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3542/3389776627_6ffc785f2f_o.jpg") of the idea.

Now, if you took this Worth gown (http://community.webshots.com/photo/fullsize/2711708730094285158bcHOLC) and worked with its basic pattern (that bustle/train is attached to the bodice from what I can tell) you could have a lot of steampunky fun. But, then, the House of Worth was the epitome of Victorian haute couture.

I would need to see it person before committing, not to mention a full-semester course in how to get in and out of the thing.

The piece missing from this discussion is that I'm six foot tall and back when I still had a waist was often mistaken for a guy. At some point, the struggle to achieve girl-clothes that fit and weren't ridiculous became too much and I crossed the aisle to the men's side, where the sleeves are long enough and the shirts are made out of fabric that lasts for more than one season.

Unfortunately for me, my taste runs to the flamboyant -- witness the Tibetan vest (http://www.marketplaceindia.org/MPI/Details.aspx?itemNo=37B-03) I wore at Stellarcon33 -- so when I see something that meets both the "that looks long enough and shiny! criteria, I tend to get up a Head o'Steam.

I'm 5'10, which means I get to have some of the same issues.

My clothing tends towards the conservative, even in con-costume. I actually had a really good time last year at CONvergence going all 5 days covered neck to ankle (victorian is my friend), with the goal of turning heads. But my colors tend towards the kelly/forest greens, cream/tan/fawn/chocolate/gold, black, and if I'm feeling flamboyant, cerulean/cobalt. I keep the colors subdued, the lines natural, the patterns minimal. It's the tailoring that does it for me. I make all of my con clothes and many of my modern ones. Many of them have a Victorian silhouette, because then I've miraculously gain a waist. Useful tricks of tailoring.

Though that fabric is making me drool madly. I may have to put out feelers for it.

I have one of their courtier bodices, and it is a well constructed, solid piece of work.

But will your dog get fed up with how long it takes to lace you into it?

I have a corset and a pair of lace-up boots (purple and over-the-knee). Jackie the Jack Russell will wait patiently for one to be laced up, but the other takes too long for him - then I get the bouncy "When are we going for a walk, huh, huh?" bark. Over and Over and Over.

I've tried lacing the boots first, then the corset AND vice versa. It's not which item I'm lacing - it's definitely the LENGTH of time I'm TAKING.

That isn't a corset. That is a bodice with attachable sleeves, and the way it's posed makes the waistline look waay too long for that skirt.
Pretty fabric, and if there is a bustle hidden by the sleeves, it's probably attractive, but I only do period correct costumes since if I'm spending money, I want to be able to be hired...

There's something wrong with the skirt, too. Is it too long for the model or is a hoopskirt missing? Judging from the photo and the little glimpse of light on the other side --the center back?-- of the left skirt of the bodice, the upper skirts are split or dagged, and a bustle is possible. Not necessarily pretty, but possible.
