Is it only Tuesday?
Tuesday, May 12th, 2009 08:30 pm...I guess it must be.
Made certain Decisions regarding the manuscript this morning and implemented them when I got home. When the dust settled, it only lost me about 400 words, which was. . . a surprise. I have also inserted Auctorial Evilness into a scene, which makes it work much better, and rearranged a garden party. Truly, I have been a busy, busy writer.
According to the Big Chunk Outline I have here on my desk, there are only six Big Scenes to finish and I'm out of this thing. The problem is that I'm so very lousy at figuring out long each scene will take, that I can't tell if I'm 20,000 words from The End or 50,000, or 70,000. Yes, I lack Grown Up Writer Skills.
In other news, and in keeping with my determination to try to do One Thing Each and Every Day which is not work, I re-potted the African violet. Tomorrow, I can carry it back to work and let it spread its furry little leaves and give me some flowers, dern it!
My back is feeling almost 100 percent. Despite this, I allowed the big box of office supplies languish in the mail room today. Perhaps I'll go down and schlepp it up the hill tomorrow.
My book of the moment is Nine Years Among the Indians, which is a very quick read and, despite being a first person account, isn't actually very illuminating. I suppose being introspective isn't really a survival skill. Herman Lehmann is a charming fellow, with a good idea of what makes for a good story, but I get the feeling that I'm not going to be very much more enlightened at the end of his narrative than I was at the beginning.

Date: 2009-05-13 10:10 am (UTC)Alas, it is now exam week at my institution and no students are allowed to work at anything but their studies. So, I get to schlepp. Ought to be a pretty day for it.
