We have a Wind Advisory here in Central Maine, with gusts of 40 to 50 miles an hour not only possible, but expected. As it happens, it's gusting quite a bit out there right now. Raining, too.

*Cue W.C. Fields*

This evening, I went through Chapter Five and sharpened it up, then did a run-through of the stuff I wrote (and re-wrote, she said aggrievedly) last night. I started in on the next chapter, just so I could say that I had and left Aelliana comfortably at a taxi-stand. We love us some taxis in the Liaden Universe®.

As I am very, very tired, by reason of not having gotten to bed until a smitch after midnight last night, and still unfairly having to get up at the same old 5:30 a.m., I'm throwing in the towel.

See y'all tomorrow.

Waiting for a taxi? Ah, me oh my oh, we're all wondering just where Aelliana is going, and why she's off on her own, and... so much fun!

80K words. That's like 4/5th of an old-style novel, ain't it? Or even most of a YA or short one? Doing good, doing good. Keep on cruising, let the wordmill grind, here it comes! YEAH!

40-50 mph? Wimps, all of you! We get gusts between 70 and 90 mphnot infrequently and 40-50 is common. It's why we had to replace our roof this year. Truthfully, 40-50 mph is not pleasant. Even when it's supposed to be a "warm" wind it feels cold.

Same here, in west Texas. The problem is, if it's from the north, that gray band on the horizon is Oklahoma, which we'll soon be breathing. If it's from the south (more common), we'll be inhaling the lighter part of Mexico. Our normal breathing matter contains enough oxygen for life, plus a delicious helping of pollen, mold and local dirt.

That's just slightly windy here in Colorado. We just had our annual visit by the roofers to replace shingles. Next year we may splurge on a whole new roof!

2/3 of the way to your target! I know, some will be added and some pulled out, but it's still a good milepost.

Oh, I am looking forward to this novel...

Windy?

Try living through something with projected _sustained_ winds greater than 155 mph and gusts up to 180 or more. Even over 130 miles east of the eye, we lost roofing with Hurricane Ivan, as it began dying ashore. Winds in the 40-50 mph range don't even rate a mention on the updated Saffit-Simpson Hurricane Scale!

I live 70-80 miles from the Gulf Coast and Katrina was still a Cat 3 hurricane when the eye went over my house. I had doors on opposite sides of the house blocked open so the wind could go through the house without blowing out my 5'x8' windows in the living room and bedroom.
