Despite rumors on the internet and Wishful Thinking on the part of some readers, there is No "evidence" that Web of the Trident has been written. In Point of Actual Fact, it has not been written, and may, sadly, never be written; it has, through no fault of its own, accumulated a boat load of bad karma.

Do not write to your favorite publisher asking them to publish Web; you'll be wasting their time and yours.

If, on your travels up and down the internets, you see people insisting that Web is finished and only needs a publisher, please feel free to point them to this post. I am one of the authors who has not written Web and I do know what I'm talking about here.

Thank you.

Sharon Lee

Wow, I can't believe that you're having to keep telling people this...

Ah, the wonder of people and the internet.

Darn. I'll just invent my own ending for The Tomorrow Log (in my head, that is; no copyright infringement intended).

At least no one is offering to sell you a brand spanking new copy on amazon for $150 yet. Or are they? [runs off to look]

Amazon is listing it as an import and having been published two years ago, in the same listing. ::boggle::

Link is here.

I want to know what the book was supposed to be about -- so I know how disappointed (not sure that is the right word) I should be.
I hope it was not a "Val Con and Miri" story -- I would really miss that.

Sequel, I believe, to Tomorrow Log.

Thanks for letting us know.

I would still love to see a sequel for The Tomorrow Log, even if it isn't Web of the Trident. Sorry to hear that it has karma problems.

I found a page that had the description.
You can also buy it -- LOL

"Armed with the potent and temperamental weapon of a Goddess-in-exile, backed by a twice-born woman legend — or is it history? — named Death's Warrior, Master Thief Gem ser Edreth must lead a reluctant generation ship crew and a far too-eager band of aboriginal warriors against a climate-killing dam constructed and defended by the cream of space-going technology. Gem's clever electronic spiders, and the information contained in an old library may be the key to victory over the planet's oppressors, but Gem faces yet another problem: the ancient power residing within the Trident is waking, and it has an agenda of its own."

Nice to see that this was released back in March of 2007.

Really. I'm thinking I should just buy a copy so I can find out how it all comes out.

It is really too bad that Web of the Trident fell victim to Bad Karma. The description that is floating around is of a book I would buy. But, alas, it is not to be.
I checked out the Australian bookstore(from the previous post) that is offering it--they say they do NOT have it in stock, but will have to order it in to fulfill a customer's order.

I e-mailed him with a reference to this post; he said he would remove it at his next update. He says suppliers always give out "upcoming" info but are less generous with "cancelled" info.

I don't believe you. We all know WEB is out there. You're just *hiding* it from us.

You'd be surprised (or perhaps not) at how many people wish to argue this point with me. Including one young person who, upon seeing a message from me very similar to the one above, announced that he had too just ordered it, the seller told him he would have it in a matter of days, and so there!

...I wonder if he ever got his money back...

Or what book he got instead of what he wanted.

You're just the author. Or one of them. What the hell do _you_ know about it?

I hope too that it does one day get published ... or at least a sequel to The Tomorrow Log does.

Sounds like the problem Robin Mckinley has try ing to convince idiots that there is not ever going to be a sequel to Sunshine. She periodically gets downright testy on the topic.

I am imagining the round-robin discussion.......

Vendors: "We have 'WEB' and you can order it from us!"

Fans: "Sweeeeet!"
Fans: "Squeeeee!!"
Fans: "Must have; NOW"

Authors: "No, you DON'T"

Fans: "Boo AAHHHH"
Fans: "Sad kitty"

Vendors "Neener neener neener"

Authors: "NO, Really, it does not exist"

Fans: "We will never give up hope! We will light candles and dance naked under the moon and swim in cold lakes and oceans! Never give up! Never Give up! Never give up!"

Fans; "Please that the Authors would also not give up the hope"

Y'a know, this is how those "inspired by xxx" books get started, isn't it? Some young and coming writer sits down with permission from the authors and that description and hammers out the next in the series. Hum, did you want to start a franchise? Here's your chance!

And to all those young and coming writers who thought "I'll do it!" notice that WITH PERMISSION is part of the formula. Permission first, okay?

Perhaps they have a cross-dimensional travel machine, for importing books by alternate-universe versions of Sharon Lee and Steve Miller, in which such books did get written....

No? Oh, phooey!!!
