While Amazon claims to have it in stock, my order from Jan 2009 isn't scheduled to ship until Next Tuesday, so apply the appropriate quantity of NaCl...

(I wonder what I'm going to do with all these Fledglings! I'm sure I'll think of something...perhaps time to assemble that new bookshelf...)

Barnes and Noble has Fledgling as shipping on 9/8 so it is interesting that someone is selling a used copy already on the site. Not only does Borders have Fledgling available for preorder in hardback, but in paperback as well, and Saltation too. However, Borders also says that Fledgling is not available in stores. I hope that this is just due to the preorder status, not that they aren't going to carry it in store. I might just have to go to all the Border stores in the area just to ask that they order it in.

The man behind the curtain who is selling "used books" is likely not selling used books -- a lot of these online book dealers list books they don't own as available and then go find copies, either new or used -- to sell once they get an order. While Baen did give away a couple dozen advance copies, I'm pretty sure you aren't seeing one of them because they were mostly signed, too. The official on-sale date in Tuesday the 8th -- we'll all hope Borders is merely waiting.

The University Bookstore has Fledgling listed as "not yet released" but there is am option to "reserve a copy" online - Duane is ROCKING it for you! That is where I buy everything you write.

I went tearing through Borderlands yesterday and while I didn't ask about it, there was a two book wide space in the shelves where Fledgling would have been in the Lee and Miller.

Eeeeee! They have two sphinxes now! (That is why I didn't get around to asking)

I'm expecting in in at the Colgate Bookstore (mine employer) in time for Tuesday's on-sale date, but since it's not here yet and Monday is a holiday it might not actually enter the building until Tuesday. I'll let you know when it gets here.

I bought Fledgling yesterday (the 4th) at Borders on Michigan Avenue in Chicago and happily read it this morning. Wonderful! I read it online of course when you were posting it, but it is so wonderful to have it in print and to note how you polished and perfected the text! I can hardly wait for Saltation! Also, I really hope you put into Saltation background information on the results of the conspiracy's unraveling on Delgado, and Jen Sar and Kamele's relationship!

I got my copy yesterday morning at the Barnes & Noble close to Fair Oaks mall. I had gone in a couple of days ago and asked them to reserve a copy when they got them in, even though I have also ordered two copies on line...didn't want to wait to read it!... and they emailed me Friday night to say I could pick up Saturday. I did. It was waiting. I am a happy reader!

If it isn't already on the shelves, ask them to go dig out a copy from the back room. This B&N has always been ready to go the extra steps I've found and believe me, you don't want to wait to read FLEDGLING. It's even better in its polished form than it was in the online rough draft. Now I have to count the days until SALTATION comes out in dead tree edition!

Actually, I bought the e-book at Baen 2 weeks ago. But since I was there, I wanted to be sure they ordered and shelved it.

I've been out of town this week and didn't have a chance to check until today. Found Fledgling at the local Borders - left it there for some other lucky soul to find, since I have a copy on the way to me already.
