Goodreads, Anyone?
Thursday, September 24th, 2009 10:12 amApparently I'm now a Goodreads Author. Still trying to figure out how it all works. Thanks to Red -- I'm assuming that's you,
redpimpernel? -- for starting the author page and starting with the decorating.
Anyhow, everybody feel free to drop by.

Date: 2009-09-24 04:19 pm (UTC)I love Goodreads just for the ease of tracking what I have read, and what I *want* to read. Now I have a central place to note interesting books whenever/wherever they get mentioned. Whenever I am in a bookstore and I see books I'm interested in, I write the names down on whatever scrap paper comes to hand and then loose them when I get home. Now I just add them to my "To-Read" shelf. Much, much tidier.
I became a librarian on Goodreads just so I could add a profile for Barry B. Longyear, and straighten out the Lee & Miller shelves, and now I enjoy helping to maintain the books I read. I didn't start your profile page, it was already there with a link to your blog. But I did start Steve's and added basic bios for you both, cleaned up the book listings so that the Sharon Lee (at least 2 or 3 of you) and Steve Miller (OMG 8 or 9 of them! If he were to start over I would strongly recommend the use of a middle initial) who write Liaden books, only show your books, and not religious crafts, or photography or architecture books. It was cool to find the books you've contributed short stories to.
I know you like to list the books you've read so far this year. Goodreads has several widgets (listed under TOOLS at bottom of the bookshelf list column) that can display the cover art of any of your shelves. You can customize to a point cover art size, and other options. So if you had a shelf called 2009 it might look like this (this is my currently reading shelf):
