umm.... you found a mysterious benefactor who will support you in the manner to which you wish to be accustomed and allow you to write without the distraction of annoying little things like a day job, or bills?

That's one of my plans if I ever won the lottery jackpot, set up funds for my favourite writers so they could write and not have to do other things just to get food money.

Of course, that means that I ought to actually play the lottery sometime...

All the teasing would immediately be forgiven if you are going to tell us that Baen, in its great wisdom, is going to offer you a munificent contract to write the sequel to I DARE, which will sate some of our 'normous curiosity about Theo's complicated problem. We all know the nefarious Department of the Interior hasn't gone away. And weaving Uncle back into the story (via the hints in SALTATION) is another real tease. Is this the same Uncle from BALANCE OF TRADE or a successor in that organization...maybe even Grig? And inquiring minds (mine at least) want to know, while they were moving The Tree, did the turtles also move the houses Jelaza Kazone and Trealla Fantrol to Surebleak? Can't imagine Clan Korval letting the Liaden Council profit by taking over those historic houses. As Shan said "lock, stock and piglet"

i think I Dare made it pretty clear tht there was room in the Clutch ship hold for the entirety of Korval's valley ... including both clanhouses ... not so ... ?

Yes, it seemed there was room aplenty but my 'satiable curiosity was asking, did they in fact move the valley? The hole left behind could be named Lake Korval as a salutary reminder to Liad not to irritate Clan Korval. There was a snippet of dialogue in the short story Lord Of The Dance (Liaden Universe Companion Vol II...get one if you don't have a copy!) in which Shan says "There will be no dances held at yos'Galan's house-had we a house, which of course we don't-until my task is done." His "had we a house" could merely mean that he and Priscilla were mostly resident on Dutiful Passage of course. Perhaps clarification awaits in future stories.
