Thanks, everyone, for the congratulations on contracting Ghost Ship (note the lack of "The" in the title). We're pretty excited here at the Cat Farm.

Moving on the theory that one big pile is better than two little piles, herewith answers to the questions in comments.

1. Nope, sorry, Ghost Ship will not (that's not) be serialized on the web.

2. Our deadline for turning in the manuscript is August 1, 2010. This means that the book will likely come out sometime in mid-or-late 2011.

3. It's not like you won't have anything from us to read in the meantime*. There's the Yule chapbook, currently under construction, slated for November publication. Saltation comes out in April 2010; Mouse and Dragon in June 2010, Carousel Tides in September 2010. And, lest we forget: All Those Reprints, starting in June 2010.

4. It's 'way early days to be talking snippets on Baen's Bar. Or anywhere else.

5. The current writing project is "Hidden Resources," which is "my" story for the upcoming Yule chapbook, said chapbook entitled Halfling Moon.

6. I honestly don't know when we have time any year soon to write a sequel to Balance of Trade. If we win a lottery big enough to be able to afford health insurance on our own, we may rethink. In the meanwhile, nobody hold their breath.

...I think that covers it. Anybody have a question that isn't covered above?

And presumably a Yule chapbook in 2010 as well. Considering that some of us have been waiting for the last book in a series by a Certain Other Author for a couple of decades I think we have nothing to complain of with your output...

All good news! But <snif> for Jethri...

How can you miss Jethri? He's living inside of Balance of Trade, same like he's always done.

Inquiring minds...

Jethri went off to the Liadens and had a Very Proper Liaden Clan adopt him in, in Balance of Trade--going after Jethri would involve getting an entire Clan or two out quite literally for blood, crying Balance!. The woman who gestated him didn't appreciate him and was going to send him off to an ore-carrying shipful of male relatives of hers. His legal father's relatives consisted of those involved in Uncle schemes and those were were on the ship he was getting kicked off of. Jethri's decision to sign on on a Liaden ship, sent him on his separate arc way, and apparently, far away from fractins and such--the Liadens of the time had the Scouts actively monitoring the "old technology" and enforcing proscription of it in Liaden space.

What happened in the intervening centuries and the murder of Aelliana and the Department of the Interior infiltrating the Scouts, were later developments. There was a line in one of the early (in terms of publication dates) Liaden books regarding Terran blood getting into Liaden clans, and that having had been happening for quite a while.

Jethri seems to have something of the standing of a bridge character--he's got his Trader credentials both from the Terran authorities, and from Liaden authority, and is Terran by birth. However, he's also the adopted son of a Liaden Delm and a member of her Clan, and as noted above, he's crew on a Liaden trade ship, and the Scouts have already taken an interest in him and let him know that the old tech is proscribed and he better not ever have any of it on him again ever, if he's going to be in any Liaden jurisdiction.

There's also the matter of a wizard looking out for him.... it's neither healthy nor in the interest of a longevity, to rile a wizard (consider what Anthora did to the DOI agents, and what Ren Zel did in the process of rescuing Anthora from the null-cell).

Don't hold your breath on affordable health insurance--we're certainly not here at Jolon Indian Publishing, aka the Krol Media & Genuine Native American Jewelry Empire [bwahahaha...] sorry, couldn't resit the bwa, etc.

Anyhoo--I have no faith in the Obama or any administration to fix the health care mess any time soon. Now, I realize that the Prez is doing everything he can, but I still don't hold out much hope that I'll be able to quit my Day Job at the museum and branch out on my own any time soon to manage the Empire full time, either. [Well, not until mid-2021 that is!] [sigh]

You may have answered this before, and if so, please forgive my question. I may not have seen your response - but. Will there ever be a conclusion to 'TOMORROW LOG"?
I just fell in love with the characters and the story and wouldn't mind reading more. Having just read your schedule for next year, I wouldn't be surprised if you uttered a few of Win Ton's choice Liaden expressions! (smile)

Mid or late 2011--the bad news, and the good news--two years, waaaa! --but it's a lot sooner than the decade wait for Plan B was! And, it's sooner than the wait for Mouse and Dragon shall have been, regarding "a run-off-her-feet halfling pilot arrives at Clan Korval with a problem and says, "Father where the hell have you been?" at the end of I Dare, what happens next?!"

Perhaps it's been covered elsewhere/when, but is there ever a plan to continue "The Tomorrow Log" series? I just ask because I really liked that book...

Ah. I just saw that it had been asked two comments previously. Apologies for the redundancy.
