For those folks who so generously donated to the cause of filing for the copyrights Meisha Merlin had, um, forgotten to register - an update.

The certificates are beginning to come in from the Library of Congress. We now have five in hand, and hope to welcome the balance home during the next week.

Thank you all. We have the best fans ever.

This is indeed good news. But please remember that though we may be strangers to you, that you are part of our Clan.

Every once in a while, you remind me that I'm glad I never got involved with MM . . .

Yay! Excellent news. It seems like everyone I know is in need of same.

ETA: p.s. Will we get to hear the results of the essay test, or must we wait breathlessly until the release of Ghost Ship to learn what Mr. McFarland looks like? :)

Jane over at dearauthor.com had a very interesting article on reclaiming copyright, which is hardly applicable to the MM situation but might be worth looking at anyhow.

I admit, most of my experience with copyright comes from the other side, along the lines of "Just because I can't technically prevent you from ripping the library's entire CCM collection onto your iPod doesn't mean that I'm obligated to assist you to do it."
