There's been a call on the day-job announcement list for haiku relating to life at the college at which I serve. This got me into mode, of course. I stepped over to my window, which is situated high in the highest building atop the summit of the hill, and this is what I saw:

Gazing down the hill
Mist over distant treetops
Masks another world

What do you see out of your window?

Very cool

Tree, sectioned by square panes
Sky, veiled by flowing sheers
Leaves dance in the breeze

Peering through dog snot
the sky and the trees raining
wet leaves on my lawn

Quite a wet and nasty day here... and I swear I even cleaned the windows within the last few months. It is amazing how quickly the dog noses mark them back up.

sunny with still wind
few golden leaves yet remain

Under blue skies, horses graze

Autumn, winter, spring:
What I see never changes.
I long for windows.

(Edited because I liked a different second line better. Also because I munged my syllable count the first time!)

Outside my window
A street where traffic passes.
Dark, soon time for bed.

school bus rattles past
black squirrel pauses on a branch
a cold rain comes down.

I can't see a thing.
Curtains cover my window
And do not open.

My husband sleeps during the day. We have blackout curtains, and he has thumbtacked them to the wall.

My office is underground so...

Longing for window
Living in colorless box
Internet saves me

Hackberry leaves, not
very yellow, drift wanly by.
They cover the mud.

(15 inches of rain in October was initially very welcome. After a while, not so much.)

On the Autumn winds
Leaves swirl up condo canyons
Dancing stories high

Fall can be unkind
but today my soul lifts
with the dancing leaves

The street is still there.
Vehicles still hurry past.
Evergreens: still green.

I look...

The visual haiku:

next to the front door
all the debris of my life
chronic bad feng-shui

The internal haiku:

quantum physics says
the mess once seen multiplies
chaos manifests

Resubmitting -- apparently I can't count syllables properly on Fridays.

The Bay Bridge appears,
rising slowly through the fog.
Gulls on the water.

Inside, color whirls:
red, blue, green, yellow surround
my desk, white and dull.

hedges everywhere
evergreens, maples tower
mottled cats wander

(the cats are the high point of my day)
