I need a longer weekend or a smarter brain
Sunday, November 15th, 2009 07:39 pmYesterday, we reconnected with a friend who haven't seen in seven years; had a lovely long visit and lunch. Day-wise, it was grey and looked like snow. On the overnight, it rained, and got warmer. Gotta love that hurricane weather. Even when the hurricane is in itsy bits and mostly played out.
Today was a work day. I spent a most of it re-reading bits of I Dare in prep for Ghost Ship. There are -- what? nine? books between me and I Dare and it's being a little difficult to find my voice, not to mention my viewpoint. I flipped a coin to figure out if this was Theo's story or Val Con's and the damn' thing landed on its edge. In reality, it will be a split story -- half dealing with Korval's settling into Surebleak and t'other half dealing with the further adventures of Theo. Still, it would be nice if I could just settle in to the story and start rockin'.
And, if wishes were fishes, we'd all be eating sushi. So, yanno, be glad there's a difference.
Earlier this evening the fog crept in. Both Hexapuma and I observed this phenomenon closely, but were unable to ascertain whether little cat feet were actually involved.
In other news, Silly Season is upon us: The nomination period for the Nebula Awards is now open. You must be an Active SFWA member to play. Here're the new rules.
Theoretically, Fledgling is eligible for nomination. Also eligible is
jhetley's Dragon's Bones, which I sincerely believe is worthy and would nominate in a heartbeat -- but can't, because I am an officer of the corporation which published it and stand thereby to Benefit from Jim's success.
Other books worthy -- IMHO -- of a nomination are Thirteenth Child by Patricia Wrede and Flesh and Fire by Laura Ann Gilman. For shorter works, I got nothin'. This is what a life of proletarian labor begets.
Speaking of which. . .tomorrow is -- Anybody?
Right.
Monday.
G'night.
