rolanni: (Caution: Writing Ahead)
[personal profile] rolanni
Today was about sleeping late (check), getting breakfast, doing an LJ post about copy editing, and claiming my space on the sofa for some serious writing. Alas, this pleasant scheme has been altered to include going to Staples.

I'll be around later.

In the meantime, what are you doing this weekend to indulge yourseslf?

Somehow I seem to be indulging myself in copy edits, which is not really the *most* indulgent way I could spend the weekend... :)

I'll be out on the ski trails, thinking of you slaving away in the word mines.

Excellent ski run, with added eagles. But we are told to expect heavy rain tomorrow night and into Monday.

That would be going out for sushi...after work, wherein I will be dealing with a protest march that will be messing up my line...for which management has provided no advance information or instruction. Luckily the internet helps a little.

I sent my brother out to get his H1N1 shot, since he's the only one healthy enough for it today, with orders to bring me back a frappucino. I am staying in today, in hopes that tomorrow I will be well enough to risk going to a movie.

I seem to have spent rather more of the weekend re-watching the first season of Pie in the Sky than I had intended.

I slept in until nearly noon Saturday morning, but I think I can make a good case for disqualifying that as an "indulgence" after the week I've had.

'Indulging' the ponies....loaded 68 bales of hay on the truck, drove it home, unloaded and stacked it in the barn. There were three of us so not too bad really.
Probably going to go out tonight for dinner, maybe some Pho, or maybe Indian, yum.

Will be dealing with the flooding from Wednesday, lots of sodden plants at the nursery to rescue. After work, I am hoping for a pint and pesto pizza at the Biker Bar down the street, a Low Port sort of place, but quality and affordable... it is the sort of place that pops up for visuals every time I think of the Merc's hanging out before lifting out...

Currently enjoying internet access (home access went down thursday), listening to Weezer's Raditude, and waiting for the mail. I paid an pretty sum for an ARC of Megan Whalen Turner's new book, Conspiracy of Kings. I'll be buying the hardcover too, of course.

And enjoying sunny skies--I had to deal with roof leaks yesterday.

Indulgence happens here most often during the week.

This weekend I'm under a copy-editing deadline for a 103 page document for the World Bank (subject: ending open defecation in rural areas of Bangladesh, oh joy). Also, dust and mop the house to get rid of the sawdust remnants from getting the new floor put it last weekend.

If I had a hot tub, I'd be in it until I wrinkled and finished coughing out this cold.
Since I don't, some Vick's vapor rub and a hot moist towel on my back will have to suffice. Any respitory or massage therapists in my area? I pay or barter generously.......
anyone?.........

Today I am working in the salt mines. Scheduling classes for next Fall(!) for a very large department, a 4D puzzle with spreadsheets. I loathe spreadsheets.

Tomorrow a movie and perhaps some Indian food.

This morning I attended my dog's graduation from puppy class. She now knows how to walk on a leash (not that she always does), and she knows not to bite the neighbor (although if he moves suddenly she still wants to.
This afternoon baking cookies (decadent ones with a lb of butter and white choc chips and milk choc chips and walnuts). Will put most of them in the freezer for those times when I want to indulge.

Selling books, prepping for tonight's folk musician, putting together a design for the Bloomin' ArtFest business cards.
I finished weeding out all the pre-2010 publisher catalogs and
took them to the car to go to recycling.

It's about freezing here, whohooo!

I shall spend my weekend moving and dusting books. Thank goodness I have most of yours on disk, and therefore beyond the need of dusting. Why would I do this? My house is too full, and it is culling day. ::sigh::

The sun is out! at 5pm after a wet gray day. I am fiddling around, continuing my production of jump rings with which to make chains and chainmaille jewelry. Earlier I succeeded in fabricating a substitute for a lost essential part of the device that allows me to cut coils of wire into jump rings. Hurray for me! Otherwise I would have to hand saw the coils with the jewelry saw. Perfectly possible but excessively tedious. Perhaps by Monday I will have some new pretties made.

Also I rescued a lost cat that very much wanted to come inside my house. Fortunately it wore a tag with a name and phone number, and what's more, it suffered me to examine same. Its person came and happily took it home. My cats were NOT amused.

Have indulged myself in a three hour orgy of watching "Lost in Austen", via Netflix. Being a "Pride and Prejudice " junky, this was absolutely delightful.

With a chilly, windy rain falling outside, gave myself a Sliders mini-marathon by watching the last four episodes on DVD.
