Paid the bills. Still money in the checkbook. That won't last.

The first six boxes of culls are in the trunk of the Little Green Car, to be dropped off at the Winslow Public Library on Monday.

Have some business email to answer, a phone call to make. . .

. . .and some writing to do.

How's your Saturday shaping up?

Seized the day, so to speak, and hauled a trash barrel around the yard picking up the winter's free pruning-harvest of twigs, and also assorted trash that wandered in on the wings of the wind.

May pump up the tires on the mountain bike and venture forth this afternoon. I mean, it's almost 50 out there . . .

Buying boxes to pack. Going to late husband's house to look at some things. Possibly rejoining the range and doing some target practice -- then coming home to pack, pack, pack.

Packing is in my future, for sure.

Take the dog (large dog) to groomer for spring bath. He's got his collar on and is ready for a road trip.

Giving dog a bath means I have to do laundry, his blankets and stuff. Vacumning also comes into play.

Gardening - a friend gave me a whole sack full of Iris bulbs and now I have to plant them.

I get to babysit my grandson tonight so that means I have to go grocery shopping for kid type food which I don't normally have on hand. He's 4 1/2, cute as the dickens, but his idea of gourmet is "Chef boy are dee"....I know how to spell it, i just resent it.

And I have to do bills.

bye for now.

Lunch with friends, shopping and then home to mat and frame some work that has to be delivered to a show next week. I cheated this time and had the mats cut. I hate cutting mats! Assembling is easy.

  • Ironing.

  • E-mailing pictures of my EEE in its mCover to iPearl.

  • (Newly discovered) Maybe a load of laundry.

  • Eyeball the Saltation database for consistency (the Fledgling database had some data in places that certainly didn't make a difference for you, but did for me).

  • Generate first round of address verification e-mails.

I think that's it. [livejournal.com profile] iraunink had mumbled something about wanting to go to a movie this afternoon, but she's over-due for a dead day. We'll see what happens there.

Ran a few errands this morning - found some new threads at my local needlework shop, so had lots of fun picking out a few to try! Was eating lunch at Applebees when I got a call from my realtor that she wants to show my condo this afternoon, so I had to run home to make sure it was ready to go. Fingers crossed!!

At least I can enjoy the sunshine from inside!

Sold some books. Check. (More to come - these be special order pickups)

Experienced a neighbor/customer coming in and asking "Do you have water?" And that, best beloved, is how I discovered there's a-yet-unlocated water main break down in Pikesville. Of course, most of Owings Mills/Reisterstown/Randallstown/Glyndon didn't find out
until after our showers so we're pretty much dry. :/ I've put the
bathroom off-limits. I hope I don't have to close early.

The snow is melting, yay!

I spent most of the day reroofing the former chicken coop, now a storage shed. Months ago, in one of the bigger windstorms that went through, it lost about eight square feet of roll roofing and felt paper, and the seams have been leaking badly since, despite a bad attempt at patching using duct tape. (I now have proof that duct tap cannot fix everything.) Roofing materials generally need clear skies and a relatively warm day for best results, and I figured I could get this done in a few hours. (Hah!)

First, I went to one of the big-box stores for a roll of roofing material and some caulk-gun roofing cement. I already had a roll of roofing felt and roofing nails, or so I thought.

When I got home, I discovered that, while I did indeed have the felt, my roofing nails were nowhere to be found, so I made another trip, this time to the local hardware store, to get some.

Scarred, smelly, and weary after much hauling, unrolling, measuring, cutting, gooping, smearing, and nailing (much nailing!), I found about halfway through that I was going to be about six inches short of the roll roofing I needed. This, of course, entails another trip to mister big box to get a complete roll, only a small fraction of which I will actually use. I will also get the canned roofing cement, because getting the caulk stuff out of the tube is like squeezing hardened concrete through a garden hose.

It's supposed to rain tomorrow (and the day after and the day after and...), but I declared myself done for the day. If the weather holds long enough, I may be able to finish this and not have to resort to tarps.

Was supposed to go to see Alice in Wonderland in 3D on the IMAX screen, but realized it was more important to spend my unemployment benefits on groceries rather than on a $10 movie. So, I spent 5 times that much on food.

Oh well, at least it was sunny!

Spent all day judging the regional Stamp Show in Springfield, VA which was lots of fun (plus commuting to it 1.2 hours each way - and they are doing LOTS of road work on the Capital Beltway - oh joy).

We're considering driving to NASFIC instead of taking the train. if we drive, our plan is to avoid 1-95 once we get past Boston. The scenic route through Winchester beckons...

Just finished making a crocheted scarf about 6' long and 6-8" wide. Hand washed it and it's now in the dry on cold delicate cycle. It's color is Santa Fe - all the colors you associate with the southeast. Starting another one later this afternoon as I hve two skeins left over.

If you come South either on 95 or A1A you're still welcome at my house for a sleepover or just a rest.

Ah, well -- NASFIC is in Raleigh, so that would be a small detour. We'll be coming to Florida by train for Oasis, in Orlando, just before Memorial Day -- I gather our hotel will be about 2 miles from the station.
