Tomorrow is Monday. I do believe that there are twice as many Mondays in any given year than there are Saturday and Sunday, combined.

Despite it's shortness, it was a productive weekend. Got a buncha business email out of the way; paid bills, as previously advertised; did some writing; did some planning; took some time off.

Steve and I have been watching "Have Gun, Will Travel," in half-hour gulps, which is an. . .interesting exercise. They've aged rather better than "The Man from Uncle," which I found I couldn't watch (*mourns*); certainly every bit as watchable as Peter Gunn and The Thin Man movies.

Part of what I've been doing with my Copious Free Time is building a Sharon Lee website. Since it's being tucked in around other, more pressing things, it's going about as fast you might imagine, given that I also need to teach myself WordPress as I go. I'd been thinking that one thing I might offer on the site is a recording of me reading the presentation I gave at Colby a few weeks ago. I can make an mp3, but doubt my editing skills, though perhaps someone who reads here may be able to help me out. The question is, does this sound like something you -- yes, you -- would like to find on an author's website?

In other news, tomorrow Hexapuma goes back to the vet's for his post-post-operative check-up. I think he looks great, and hope the doctor will think the same.

We hear from family in Maryland that the snow persists, which they take exception to. Here, we're all but snowless, and damned unnatural it seems, too.

So! Who's seen Alice? Whaddya think?

Being as she'd never expected to find herself in any such ridiculous and easily preventable condition, Miri had never studied much on how to be pregnant.

I haven't seen Alice yet, although some friends really liked it. I LOVE the snippet! :-D

That sounds fascinating. It would even be enough to make me get the sound fixed on my computer:)

Best wishes to Hexapuma.

And we hear from family in Ohio that they have 14" of snow on the rear patio. Nowt here. With the cross-country ski race already canceled due to a lack of one of the basic ingredients, we now start fearing for the spring canoe races. Nothing to feed the runoff . . .

Snippet!

I can't wait to read that scene!!! =)

Glad that Hexapuma is doing well!

I love the snippet. I cannot, however, comment on snow—as Pacifica seldom rarely never gets any—nor on Alice. The recording sounds like something that would be right up someone else's alley; I prefer to read my online content, for the most part.

Best wishes to Hexapuma, he of the sardonic expression and beautiful coat.

All your waters are belong to us.

Even got some of it as 10" of snow, which last happened here three or four decades ago. And it keeps raining while the ground is still full of puddles from the last. I've been eyeing my LL Bean catalog, specifically the Maine Hunting Shoes; my shoes won't keep out water that's more than 1/4" deep, which is less than the puddles in parking lots, much less in the back pasture.

But despite chilly rain, there are daffodils! Spring WILL come!

I really liked Alice particularly in her suit of armor. The movie is a weird ride but what can you expect - take one part Lewis Carroll & one part Tim Burton and stir well = a whole lot of weird. Costumes & sets great, A+ for cinematography.

If you are a Lewis Carroll purist I'm not sure you will like it but I had fun.

Yes. Yes it does.

On the recording -- yes, it would be interesting, and I do have sound editing experience. In what format (and what size) is it at present? I can read most and can produce MP3s, if it's more than a megabyte or so I'd suggest putting it on a website where I can grab it (and I'd do the same with the MP3).

Thank you!

It is currently in no format; I need to record it. Which I may even be able to do tonight. More news as it develops.

I saw Alice; I did not care for it. I think a child might enjoy it. Was it a Disney film? Defiantly child friendly. Has all the cute stuff kids like, but it is missing the tug-on-the-heart that makes a kids film enjoyable for adults. Does have some women/girl empowerment – which you might like. Johnny D. – well his quirky rolls have become “old”.

But then I did not care for avatar either. And I think the people nominating it for awards must be on drugs. Except for special effects, it actually deserves an award for that. I think I remember hearing/reading that someone described it as a visual treat – I agree.

This is a yes vote for the recording of your presentation. I enjoyed the written version that you shared, but would like to be able to hear it in your voice.

rarely listen to recordings myself - I'm a text person.

Saw Alice last night and loved it. Weird of course. Female empowerment as mentioned below.

Interestingly, I have been watching HGWT also, and it does translate well. I have all six seasons and am at the end of Season 5 - not really wanting it to end.

I would be interested in hearing your speech. Another audio suggestion for your web page (either the Sharon Lee page or more likely a Liaden page) would be a reading of various Liaden words & names.

When I read I hear the story in my head, and I often wonder at the pronunciation of various words/names. There's nothing like hearing it from the horses mouth. For example is Daav pronounced Dave or Dahv? Is Liaden Lye-Ay-den or Lee-Ay-den? Crisp enunciation would be required for this podcast.
