So, the weekend

Saturday had been a planned day off far before the landing of galleys. Steve and I discussed it, and decided that we actually deserved that day off, deadlines or not, so we went south, to a home show, then souther, to the ocean, then bore northwards, stopping to tour that popular tourist attraction Whole Foods, where Cheese was committed, and dark chocolate covered espresso beans were but barely avoided.

Sunday was sit-in-the-living-room-and-proofread-damn-you day. Steve did Conflict of Honors while I finished Scout's Progress and started on Mouse and Dragon. As of this writing, that's three-point-five books down and half a book to go.

Yes, it is. I was prepared to think that turning the three-book omnibus around on a dime was a lot of proofing, then the fourth book landed.

Yes, yes, I can probably fill in the blank but I like your words better. :) I have vague feelings there was one place in the 'Halfing Moon' story that lost a bit of text but it can't have been too important as I've re-read it several times now and didn't flag it to ask you.

Damn you and kinzel I CRIED. I never cry. But by about 3/4 of the way through the book I'd allowed myself to hope that there would be another book to be written. I ended up staying up until after 3 am because I just couldn't go to bed.

Sat in front of the computer and read some while the Touch was recharging, then back to a comfortable chair to finish the rest. I did love the scene with Pat Rin, it explains a lot.

What more can you ask for as you check the blog between bouts of vacuuming up water in the basement? The new Mouse and Dragon ARC! This is as good as all of those Mondays waiting for the next chapter of Fledgling or Saltation. A burst of sunshine in the middle of 3 days of rain.
(Besides the water in the basement, we seem to be developing a koi pond in the corner of the backyard. 'Bet that means the neighbor down the hill has a swimming pool in HIS basement. Ugh.)

Got it as soon as the email from Arnold arrived.
Read it up to just before the part I was dreading then took a break.

Got up the courage to finish before going to bed. Knew I wouldn't sleep otherwise. Can't help thinking it must have been a thousand times harder to write! Snif, beautifully done!

Sigh, at least Daav does have her remaining with him, even if not in the flesh.

Anne's death would be even harder, I think, since she doesn't remain. But, that brings up a question, Since Daav is gone, and all three of the other parents not available to parent, who finishes raising the children? Is it long enough between that Shan and maybe Nova will be old enough to take over?

And when is Nova going to get HER book? (LMB listees wondering.)

...even the Scouts, appealed to in need, had sent broadbeam across the stars that Scout Captain Val Con yos'Phelium was required immediately at home, on business of his Clan. So had Val Con come, too, in remarkably short time, shaky with too many Jumps made one after another, to stand and weep with the rest of them at his foster mother's bier.

So it seems that Val Con had made Scout Captain. Old enough, perhaps?

There's a wee glimpse of the children in Half Moon (the latest chapbook). At least one is standing tall as a pilot... (and I'll stop there, before someone complains about spoilers).

Agreed -- we need more Nova, and I would love to see the Er Thom/Anne tale get filled out a bit more, too... but in the meantime, there's Ghost Ship to look forward to, and Carousel Tides (if you don't mind slipping out of the Liaden Universe (r))
