Was a sunny day

…and a warm one.  Suddenly!  It’s summer, forget about spring.  My daffodils are ready to burst forth in song and it’s only April 3.

This morning’s adventures included a trip to the local hospital’s women’s health fair, which was pleasant, and informative, and left me with a burning desire to learn to dance Zumba.  Unfortunately, it happens that there is a Zumba class taught at the Blue Wave Studio right in downtown Waterville on Thursday evenings.  This could be bad. I can only hope that tuition costs the earth.

I happened to be at the Senior Spectrum table, looking at their display Wii when I heard the woman behind the counter tell a prospective client about the range of activities open to Senior Spectrum members, including trips, and talks by experts, including Maine Authors.  When the spiel was done and the customer gone, I stepped up and offered a card — “My name is Sharon Lee and I’m a Maine Author” –  leading to much laughter.  P’rhaps a gig will come of it.

Back home, I dealt with lunch and retired to the corner of the couch with The Leewit to get some writing done.  What I’m doing right now is writing the bits I know, which means that I have medium-to-large chunks of stuff that has to happen, story-wise.  This will enable me to figure out what needs to happen, plot-wise, since transitions will have to be built to all of these scenes.  So, progress, in a sort-of sideways direction.

Tomorrow is more writing, interleaved with laundry.  Monday, Steve is wanted early at the hospital for outpatient surgery, and I’m his designated driver.

The fun, it never stops.

Hope you — yes, you! — are having a lovely and relaxing weekend, wherever you are.

For those keeping score at home, progress on Ghost Ship is 40,007 out of a projected 100,000 words — about 40% done.

Maybe I’ll figure out how to make the little progress meter work in WordPress some other day.

G’night.

Sunny Day

Hmmm. Wish it was sunny here. Experiencing 90% chance of snow which at this point is all horizontal. My spouse, bless him, bought me a heated bird bath, just for love, and has had to add water to it hourly. All the water keeps blowing out. The cats are convinced we are out of our minds to have returned to such impossible surroundings. Where is the Door into Summer? they say. Me too! Jenny from Colorado ( used to be WA)

My sugar snap peas, planted late, have just poked out of the ground. My tomato plants just went into the ground. Two weeks ago this evening it was snowing on the plum blossoms.

Yay for having a card handy as a Maine author, may something come of it!

With a straight line like thaaaat....

What did they expect? :)
Thanks for the laugh!

It's the first Easter I can remember that wasn't a) too cold or
b) too rainy/overcast. You know, you usually buy a nice light
Easter outfit....then have to wear a winter coat over it!

It's a pretty, warm day in Maryland - with associated customers,
candy from the Easter bunny, ham from the neighbor down the street,
and folk musician to show up sometime this evening. Yay, music and
books.

PS You're really steaming along full speed on Ghostship - at least
from what I can see. And I'm lovin' the tweets.

I'm reading this Easter evening whilst listening to my Eldest Child and Middle Daughter sneeze as the cats sleep so I'll keep things brief.

Best of luck on the 'morrow. May all of the medico's skills be sharp as a Dragon's wit and your driving as unfailing as the Tree (and as much appreciated!*).

*having had umpteen knee surgeries now I really really appreciate designated drivers! ::grin:: Especially the ones who know where I sleep! ::weg::

Actually I'm selfish enough to hope 40,007 words turns out to be 30% or even less. Hard on you but great for your fanatical fans:-)

Zumba

I liked Zumba when I tried it, even though I am uncoordinated dancewise, but I found the repeatativeness (sp?) of the movements for half an hour hard on my knees -- and I don't generally have bad knees, given that I've been walking on them for over half a century. (Other than a few twinges on rainy days and/or going down stairs some days, they don't usually bother me.) So, I gave up zumba.

Oddly, perhaps, I do a fifty minute gym class that includes aerobics, some weight and tai chi exercises just fine; perhaps the movements are more varied.

Just a word to the wise. If you want to try the zumba, perhaps you can do a few classes and see how they are, rather than pay in advance for a whole bunch.

OK, that's something to take into account. What attracted me was that the demo seemed to be pretty varied. I'm getting ready to bite the bullet and drop the instructor a note to see if she takes dance-dumb old ladies, and if I do a pay-by-session for a couple/three before I commit.
