Go ahead, take a look -- you know you want to.

How many pages are there to a signature? 16 (which would give 240 pages (sides))? I don't have the MM copy so I can't see the resultant page count, but that sounds similar in size to the mass market edition.

It's 480 pages, iirc, so...32 pages/signature? I'm not sure they do mass market in signatures -- *casts about office for an mmp of anything and failing to find one*

So that's 16 leaves meaning it's folded 4 times (16mo). No, most mmpbs these days are "perfect bound" which means that they just get the individual leaves as a stack, press them together, and smother the ends with glue (some rubbery stuff) and stick the cover round that, which is why they tend to break and the pages come out (and the cover come off) after a few reads (one read in the case of the binder Tor used at one time!). This is why I buy multiple copies of pb editions (well, one reason; the other is that mmpb editions fit better into pockets so I take then while travelling and so they are more likely to get lost or damaged).

Somewhere I have a paperback from the middle of last century which was actually stitched (and so was in signature form, the edges are still a bit rough as well where it was cut). One of the last to be made that way, probably, before "perfect binding" came in.
