Oh dear. I know what recovering means in the context of a piece of furniture. Is that good news for a shirt ?

It's a gorgeous shirt. If you have to pack it, stuff with crumpled tissue paper, and pad around it with the same. Remember the passage in 'Busmans Honeymoon' where Harriet is unpacking and is surprised by the amount of tissue paper (not realising that Bunter had repacked her suitcase for her).
