I'd be very interested to know what you thought of 'Major Pettigrew's last stand'?

I envy you the opportunity to read Ghost Ship. I'm looking forward to that one myself. :-)

Noticed one addition to your book list: The Replacement by Brenna Yovanoff. (We can't read Ghost Ship yet. That's a shame.) Went over to Amazon to read about it. There's an interview with Ms. Yovanoff which I haven't read yet I must admit. The book is apparently in the catagory of literature for young people, grades 9-12. The synopis says that the book is full of gloom and doom, nasty supernatural characters which live underneath the town, human sacrifce, a changeling who is now a teen, and so on. I'd suggest from what I read that maybe no one should read this book unless and until they are at least 30. Unless of course your kid likes Grimm's Fairy Tales which are very grim and hard to take. Maybe one shouldn't read this book until one is around 50. That's when perhaps most of us aren't afraid of the dark any more. If you still check to see if there are monsters underneath your bed its possible this book isn't for you. My grandmother couldn't sleep with the closet doors open for fear of what might emerge during the night. This book probably wouldn't be for her either.

Hard to believe "Half Magic" isn't a reread. One of my favorite books from childhood. All of his books are good. "Knight's Castle" had me reading "Ivanhoe" unabridged at a very young age. Just because I wanted to understand what was going on in Eager's book, what the jokes were.
